Happy New Year, Bakers! 🎉
Welcome to the first edition of 2026's Savvy Baker's Scoop!
I hope January is off to a great start and that you’re easing into the year with clear intentions and a fresh perspective for your home bakery.
We're kicking things off with practical education, community connection, and a little inspiration from one of our members.
To my new subscribers:
I want you to know that this newsletter is dedicated to supporting you, the home-based baker, in achieving sweet success.
Home-based bakers are an underserved & underappreciated group. With my years of experience in the Cottage Food's baking industry, I am passionate about helping you avoid some of the mistakes I made in the past and unlocking your full potential.

Sole Proprietor or LLC?
One of the most common questions I get from home-based bakers is whether they should operate as a Sole Proprietor or form an LLC (Limited Liability Company).
I recently published a new blog post breaking this down in a clear, easy-to-understand way specifically for home bakery owners.
In the blog, I cover:
- What the difference actually is
- Why a single-member LLC is often a smart move
- What to consider before making the switch.
If this topic has ever felt confusing or overwhelming, you’re not alone; this post is a great place to start.

❓ Question of the Week❓
You may have noticed our new Question of the Week series on Instagram!
These aren’t random questions. They’re real questions pulled directly from:
- Cottage Food Facebook groups
- Reddit threads & baking forums
- Conversations I’ve had with bakers just like you
The goal is to answer the things people are actually wondering about when it comes to pricing, legal setup, organization, and running a sustainable home bakery.
Have a question you’d like me to cover?
Please send it my way! Chances are, if you’re wondering about it, someone else is too.
