Side Hustles, Podcasts & a Wedding Cake 💍🍰

Hi Baker Friends,

As we say goodbye to what felt like the longest month of the year, let's take a moment to reflect.

This second scoop is focused on growth; growing your business responsibly, learning from others in the industry, and celebrating the creativity within our community.

Let's dig in. But first. . .

To my new subscribers:

I want you to know that this newsletter is dedicated to supporting you, the home-based baker, in achieving sweet success.

Home-based bakers are an underserved & underappreciated group. With my years of experience in the Cottage Food's baking industry, I am passionate about helping you avoid some of the mistakes I made in the past and unlocking your full potential.

🌙 Thinking About Moonlighting? 🌙

A question that comes up often for home-based bakers is how to balance a baking business while still working a full-time job.

I have a great blog post all about moonlighting: what it is, when it makes sense, and what to think through before taking the leap.

If you’re baking on the side right now (or thinking about it), this one’s for you.

🎙 Baking Therapy Podcast Feature 🎙

I had the opportunity to be a guest on the Forrager Podcast, where we talked about home-based baking, running a business behind the scenes, and what it really takes to grow sustainably.

If you enjoy honest conversations about the baking business, this is the episode for you.

📊 Pricing Course at Cottage Foodie Con 📊

If you’re attending Cottage Foodie Con, I’ll be teaching a pricing course designed specifically for home-based bakers.

We’ll cover:

  • Why pricing feels so hard
  • Common mistakes bakers make
  • How to price confidently and profitably

I’d love to see you there if you’re attending!

Benjamin also happens to be my podcast partner on Baking Therapy and an incredibly talented pastry chef.

He made his own wedding cake.

You create the most stunning cake for you and your beautiful bride.

📝 Sweet Spotlight – Submission Guidelines

To keep things fun, fair, and easy, here’s how Sweet Spotlight works:

✔ What you can submit:

  • Photos of cookies, cakes, cupcakes, breads, or other baked goods
  • Seasonal bakes, bestsellers, or recent favorites
  • Clear, well-lit photos (phone photos are totally fine!)

✔ How to submit:

✔ Include:

  • Your name or business name
  • What you baked
  • Your Instagram handle (if you’d like to be tagged)

✔ A few notes:

  • By submitting, you give permission for your photo to be shared in the newsletter and on social media
  • Not all submissions can be featured every month, but we’ll rotate as often as possible
  • You don’t have to be a Cake Biz Bootcamp member to be featured; this is for our whole community 💛

Thank you for being part of the Cake Business School family. Keep learning, keep baking, and keep building the business you love!

See you in a few weeks for your next scoop!
