First things first – you’ll notice something different about this newsletter. We’re officially rebranding from “The Savvy Baker’s Scoop” to the “Cottage AF Newsletter”!
This change has been cooking (pun intended) for a while, but attending Cottage Foodie Con last week really brought it home for me.
While Cake Business School LLC dba Angel Foods (AF) started with home bakers in mind, I’ve realized our community extends far beyond just cakes, cookies, and desserts. Whether you’re making artisanal jams, crafting specialty sauces, or creating gorgeous charcuterie boards – if you’re a cottage food producer, you belong here!
So, why do I do this? In my opinion, home-based makers are an underserved & underappreciated group. With my years of experience in the Cottage Food's baking industry, I am passionate about helping you avoid some of the mistakes I made in the past and unlocking your full potential.

💫 Cottage Foodie Con: My Takeaways 💫
It's hard to sum up my feelings in just one word, but I'll try: WOW! What an incredible experience. I had the honor of presenting "The Slice is Right Baked Goods Pricing Session," and let me tell you, that room was PACKED with passionate food entrepreneurs hungry for business knowledge.
Here are a few things that blew me away:
- There are literally thousands of home-based food producers out there, and so many are struggling with the business fundamentals – especially pricing for profit. The questions during my session were thoughtful, and the energy in that room was absolutely electric.
- This community isn't just about sharing recipes (though we love that too!). It's about passionate makers who are ready to learn, grow, and lift each other up. My mission to help cottage food producers build profitable, sustainable businesses was completely reinvigorated by meeting all of these amazing entrepreneurs.
- And...even though this was the first ever convention of this kind, it was a huge success and has my wheels turning! 🤔💡
